How To Prepare For A Road Trip

My family and I will be traveling to Vicksburg, Mississippi to spend time with some friends for Thanksgiving. It is a 10 hour drive from South Carolina to Mississippi. We've driven this trip several times so we know how to prepare and map out our trip. We're planning to leave after midnight so we can dodge most of the heavy traffic. I must have some of my favorite traveling items in order for me to have a smooth ride.

I have a seven year old, I know she is going to sleep the majority of the road trip so I have to make sure she is comfortable and well prepared.

In our route we stop at Buccee's in Leeds Alabama. We gas up 2 times on the way to Mississippi. We fill our tank in South Carolina before we leave home, Atlanta, Georgia and Leeds Alabama. Buccee's is like a little Walmart it has over 200 gas pumps, clean restrooms, lots of souvenirs, hot and cold food, beverages and deserts. The store is very inviting. I really love Buccee's.

When traveling a long distance you want to dress cute/comfortable. I like to make a fashion statement even when I'm dressing relaxed. I like stretch pants I can feel cozy and a nice sleeve in the event if I have to hop out the car and go into the store. I dress my daughter comfortable as well.We also have comfortable traveling shoes. I usually travel in my flats and I put on my sneakers when it’s time to get out of the car.

If you're driving your personal car, make sure you get your car maintenance before the road trip. Balance your tires, make sure everything is working properly with your car. For extra security I keep an extra quart of oil and antifreeze in the trunk.

It's always good to have a first aid kit along with a flash light in case you or your little one have a minor incident. I keep one in my trunk.

On a long trip I travel with my throw blanket and pillow. When i’m asleep on the passager side I like to feel like I'm at home in my comfortable bed.

While I'm traveling in between chatting with my husband and daughter and sleeping , I'm listening to my playlist. Great music keeps the good vibes going.

In addition to a good playlist and my comfortable gear I must have my favorite snacks to munch on.

I love promoting myself so I carry one of my favorite cups with my logo and I get to put my favorite beverage in my insulated cup. Also I bring my business cards and a few of my products to give out to potential customers.

Lastly I bring activities for my daughter to keep her from getting bored on the long road trip.

These are some of the must haves I need for a successful road trip. What are some things that you do to make your trip successful? Feel free to leave a comment. Thanks for reading my story, feel free to check out the other stories on the site. Follow me on my socials to stay connected. 🥰
