Vicksburg Civil War Museum

Happy December Guys🥰🎄💚❤️. This week I had the pleasure of gathering with friends and family in Vicksburg, Mississippi. This year makes my second year traveling to Vicksburg for the Thanksgiving Holiday.My husband, daughter and I did lots of touring, and sight seeing in Vicksburg and Jackson Mississippi. Vicksburg is very historic and I love the landscape, Mississippi River and the culture.

Charles Pendleton (pictured above) a native of Vicksburg, Mississippi is the owner and founder of Vicksburg Civil War Museum. I had the pleasure of interviewing Charles about the inception of the museum as he gave us a tour. You can check out the interview on my YouTube Channel Bloggingwithapril.

I asked Charles what intrigued him to start a Civil War Museum, he stated “ I ran across a letter of a slave girl that lived in Vicksburg, Mississippi and she was sold for $300” Charles went on to say he started collected Civil War artifacts Charles stated that it’s important for African Americans to understand and talk more about the history of the Civil War and slavery. Charles encouraged African Americans to become historical tour guides to tour places like his museum and talk about the hardship African American and slaves endured in the past.

Each confederate state has succession letters. Pictured below is a copy of South Carolina succession letter.

As shown above there are lots of Civil War and slave replicas on display at this wonderful Vicksburg Civil War Museum. My in person visit was very thought provoking and intriguing. I was able to gain lots of information about our history. Charles enlighten me and the other tourist about some of the knowledge he was privy too and also he provided friendly customer service.
