A Day At The Shooting Range

Today I got first hand experience at a shooting range. I always wanted to go to a shooting range but my past fears and negative assumptions about guns kept me from owning and learning how to practice shooting a concealed weapon. At one time, I didnt want anything to do with a gun, but over time and after hearing about senseless murders and women being a victim of sex trafficking, I want to protect myself and my child against an intruder if I’m alone.
M y husband purchased me a pink 9 mm for Mother's Day. I began to become more at ease with my gun. I'm starting to view guns differently by viewing it as a self defense mechanism.
I went to the Ricochet Range located in Sunter SC. It is an indoor 10 bay range that offers certified weapon classes, weapons, ammunitions and other accessories. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The facility is nice and inviting , which I highly recommend as a first time guest. To learn more about them visit www.RicochetRange.com.
These are some of the techniques that I've learned at Ricochet Range.
Since this is my first time holding a weapon, Rob the owner demonstrated the proper way of holding and shooting a weapon. For me this was helpful because I was slightly nervous about practicing shooting. I became comfortable by holding one of the replicas and learning about the proper way of using a weapon to keep from injuring myself and hurting others. He talked about muscle memory and where to place my hand, how my stance should be and how to direct the weapon. The introduction helped me out alot before going into the range.
He showed me a virtual video of an intruder coming on someone's property and pulling out a weapon. Rob demonstrated how he would protect himself if it was a real life situation. ( The video is posted at the end of this blog)
Rob and I in the range, he's briefing me on the rules of the range such as: how to operate the target, and how to adjust settings for my preferred distance and lightening for my practice shots. The indoor range is safe, and attractive.
Me in the range practicibg shooting. I must admit the first shot scared me because the gun shot was loud and the weapon slightly bounced from my hand. After more practice of shooting practice rounds I became use the weapon and the sound.I also got assistance on how to shoot my target. The I was told to do some dry fire first, and say to myself, “ front sight” and pull the trigger slowly to keep me from anticipating the shot. Once I did that my shots were more centered.
These two guys, Gary and Rob were very helpful in my first time gun range experience. The whole staff was awesome. I reccomend if your're in the Sumter and surrounding area to check them out. You also can rent out their space to host shooting parties, which I think is the new turn up, lol. Also being a member can get you alot of perks.
These are a few weapons they have for sale that I have pictured but they have other hand guns for sale with gun cleaners, ammunition and other gun accessories.
Below are videos of my awesome day at the shooting range. Thanks for reading and watching, I'll talk to you soon 😊
