Working Moms, Making Time

Being A Mom, Wife and Having A Career, can be quite overwhelming. Speaking from personal experience, sometimes I get frustrated and fatigue. My career requires alot and so do my spouse and my five year old. Not only must I carry out the demands of my job I have to make sure my 5 year old have everything she needs for school and her basic needs are being met. After my child was born, I began to realize that every minute count and I had to learn how to manage my time better. I learned that planning and delegating helped me alot. I learned how to enjoy and appreciate the small things. I didn’t realize how important it is to go outside, and get fresh air. When I was out on maternity leave I indulged in getting much needed rest, I learned to rest when the baby was asleep.

Motherhood has helped me to put things in proper perspective. I learned different ways to save money. I learned how to put someone else's need ahead of mine. I learned how to advocate and be creative, also I learned how to think fast and problem solve.

Balancing motherhood and your career can be challenging. I feel that if you have smaller children you should choose a career or job that is kid friendly. As parents we are responsible for making sure the kids attend their regular doctor's appointments, they have supplies for daycare or school and they are participating and engaging in recreational activities that will hone their creativity and enhance their social skills.

Attending to the spouse when you have a career and when you are a mother is quite a juggle. Demands and time are not always on our side. Alot of time I’m focused on getting things done in a timely fashion, which can lead to stress. I try to spend quality time with my husband often but it's hard when the demands of life are calling you.I think husbands should be understanding and meet their wives where they are to abstain from conflict and marital problems.

Sef-care- Establishing healthy boundaries and setting some time for yourself daily can refresh your mind and body. I establish a morning and night time routine. In the mornings I pray, exercise and speak positive affirmations. At night I tell God what I'm thankful for, I take a nice hot shower, I massage myself with my favorite scents and I watch something inspirational or funny to end my day positive.

Working women,.moms , women entrepreneurs we can do this, we have to be more intentional on taking care of ourselves, resting, delegating and self improvement.
