The Day In A Life Of A Preschool Teacher
I am proud to say that I am a 4k teacher. As for me teaching is fun and rewarding, I get to see how they progress throughout the school year.
My job entails planning age appropriate activities that relate to my study(topic), offering different experiences, enhancing their emotional, social, language, literacy and math skills to get them ready for kindergarten.
The first thing I must do is to build a relationship with my students and have classroom management which starts the first day of school. Classroom management is the skills that teachers use to keep students organized, orderly, focused, attentive, on task, and academically productive during a class ( edglossary.org/classroom management).
In my classroom we have a morning routine to get the children acclimated and to connect with one another. I have a daily and visual schedule posted so children can see the time line of their day. A visual schedule is good for young children who don't know how to read yet, and children with adhd who need consistency.
One of my favorite components of my classroom is the safe center. The children use the safe center when they are upset or if they want some alone time. In the center there are pillows, a mat, feeling emojis for the children to identify their feelings, calming icons, a picture book that coaches the children how to breathe, a teddy bear and calming cream. The safe place center and its components derived from Dr.Becky A.Bailey the creator and author of Conscious Discipline, Building Resilient Classrooms.
I have other components in my class to help my day go smoothly such as: a job board, classroom rules and procedure, a friends and family board, a helpful ways chart with pictures, a celebration board and a absent student board with their names on it. I have children art work displayed at eye level, and my class is a rich print environment.
My profession affords me the ability to enjoy to going to work every day. It’s never a dull moment in my classroom and my students often tell me they like coming to school which is a win win. That’s all I have for now, feel free to share in the comment section about some of the things you do with your children at home or in the classroom.
