More of Vicksburg, M.S.
Happy Post Thanksgiving 😚. My husband, daughter and I took another trip down to Vicksburg, Mississippi for Thanksgiving. Our second time around we got a chance to explore more of the city. I visited Mississippi over 12 years ago around Christmas time. I remembered some of what the city has to offer. Over 12 years ago I remembered going to their mall looking at the huge Christmas tree and watching the lights. Ronnie ( read the previous blog on My Weekend In Mississippi) and his wife took us to the casino, ( a disclaimer, they don't gamble or go to the casino in present time, Ronnie became an assistant pastor which I didn't mention in the last blog post). And must I not forget to mention Ronnie and my husband went fishing, one of my husband's hobbies. I remembered going to a Chinese restaurant that had amazing fried rice. That Sunday, we went to church which I remembered the members and pastor were very welcoming and the worship service was great.
Catfish Road Park in Vicksburg is beautiful, it reminds me of downtown Savanah Georgia, Charleston, South Carolina and Freeport Bahamas. A few of the buildings are colorful and English style like the ones in New Orleans.
At Catfish Road there is park for the family and children to enjoy , an art mural depicting history and musicians. In the park there were props with lights that families could do selfies. Also there was Santa taking pictures with the children and giving out peppermint. Also you can hop on the train to take a ride in down town Vicksburg.
After the train ride, we were getting hungry. My husband found a restaurant that he felt my daughter would enjoy. His first choice was seafood, but I told him that I didn't want to take that chance because I never given her any shell fish or seafood and I didn't know if she would be allergic.
While we there we stayed at the Red Roof Inn. In my laughing voice this stay was very interesting. I’ve never experienced nothing like this in my life. To name a few things.. the toilet paper wasn't replenished, it took 5 minutes before the water got hot, and no house keeper was on duty. The front desk workers acted as housekeepers .At one point I thought my family was the only occupants there. Needless to say we got our needs met, with proper negotiations and they refunded us a day stay.
