Travel Must Haves
My family and I will be traveling soon so guess what I'm doing? I'm making a checklist of things we need to have a successful road trip. I’m preparing for myself, my husband and our two children. If you travel with children you already know the feeling. With things being a little different due to this pandemic you want to travel with your essentials and then some. I must admit when I traveled prior to the pandemic I was always prepared because I didn’t want to spend any extra money on stuff that I already have in my home. I know many of you like myself are planning your next vacation or about to travel within the next couple of months so I will like to share with you some of my travel must haves.
Lysol Wipes/Bleach Disinfectant- It's a must for me to travel with my lysol or bleach disinfectant to wipe down the hotel appliances, and spray and disinfect the pillows, and sheets. This has been my ritual each time I travel, and with it being a pandemic I must keep it going.
2. Hand Sanitizer- My family and I use our hand sanitizers to clean our hands in the car before we eat or drink anything and if we touch something yucky or dirty. Each of us carry around our personal sanitizer and a bottle stays in the car.
3. Hand Soap- I like to travel with my personal hand soap just in case if the hotel or the bathroom at the rest stop doesn't have any.
4. Trashbags/Plastic Bags- It's a pet peeve of mine to travel in a dirty trashy vehicle. I keep trashbags or extra plastic bags in my car for my trash and to have room for a comfortable ride.
5. Potty Chairs/Toilet Covers- I have a three year old daughter and like most parents I’m particular about taking her in unclean public restrooms and especially now that we’re in a pandemic. For my peace of mind we travel with her potty chair. We’ve been successful with her using the potty chair each time we traveled long distance.
6. Water- Water can be used for many purposes like cleaning, and drinking. If we're traveling for hours we take a case of water to stay hydrated.
7. First Aid Kit- Always I mean always have a first aid kit in your vehicle. When my husband purchased his new SUV last year it came with a first aid kit. Anything can happen while you are traveling and you want to take care of yourself. If you are traveling with children you want to be extra prepared for anything.
8. Extra Change of Clothes- I always pack extra outfits in addition to what I’m going to wear at my destination. I like to have options and be prepared if the weather does something unexpectedly. Also I pack three extra outfits for my daughter in addition to her wardrobe. My motto is: be safe than sorry. Another great thing about packing extra clothes is this will save you from buying new clothes on your trip in case you have a spill or the kiddos have an accident.
9. Extra Snack- I often snack alot while I’m traveling so I pack extra snacks for everyone to sustain them until we get to the restaurant of our choice or our destination. Easy snacks such as cheese sticks, crackers, chips, or fruit does the trick.
10. Covers/Blankets- Every individual's body temperature is different and it can be hard to adjust the air to appeae everybody so the trick to this is to travel with a blanket or cover if you get cold easily. I personally like to use a blanket, sit back and chill if I’m not driving..
11. Cash On Hand- It's wise to travel with cash just in case if a merchant's card machine is down and they are only accepting cash. Having cash can help you monitor your spending better and can help keep you stay on your budget. Taking credit cards are great in case of an unexpected emergency such as a flat tire or any other mechanical issues.
12. Extra charger or phone batteries- Personally I use my phone a whole to record videos, take and upload photos, write my blog, network and work my online business. It's imperative that my phone stay charged. I travel with back up chargers, and extra battery packs.
13. Don't Forget The Beauty and Hygiene Products- I have a good habit of packing my toothpaste, body wash, oils, mouthwash, makeup bag, deordarant, hair products, flat iron first and putting them in the suitcase before I pack the rest of my stuff. You never want to leave home without your goodies.
14. Last but not least but most importantly, never leave home without your prescription or over the counter medication. You will not have the fun you desire if you're not feeling your best. Some of the meds that I take on my trip depending on the season is my allergy medication, children's tylenol, ibuprofen and my all natural healthy supplements.
If need be prior to your trip make a checklist and while you're packing check off the things that you already placed in your suitcase. Another great thing is to pack days in advance so you will have time to think about what you want to take on your trip, this will help you feel less overwhelmed.
