Obstacles: Are They Necessary For Our Growth

We know that obstacles is something that gets in the way and slows down or stop our progress. Some obstacles that we face are: lack of patience, lack of discipline, lack of inspiration, lack of skill, fear of change, lack of knowledge, and lack of desire and passion.
When I look back and think about all the obstacles that were in my path and how I overcome them all, I know that they were necessary for my growth. If everything goes smooth and the way we want it to all the time we wouldn"t have anything to fight for. We couldn't appreciate the good times if we didn't have bad times.
I can appreciate the good things that happen to me because I’ve had bad things to happen to me that wasn't in my control. I became humble because I realize that people don"t owe me anything and it's because of the grace of God that I have people that are willing to help me.
This Friday I posted this picture on my Facebook page. I used the lyric from Cardi B's song Ten Toes Down. I stated in my post I look in the mirror and said to myself I will win, they knocked me down nine times but I get up ten. We all have been knocked down but we have gotten up to start over again which makes us winners. I also posted this picture because I needed to remind myself that if no one praise me I’m still going to cheer for myself, if no one likes me I still will love myself, and I will keep smiling and that's not going to change. Sometimes self motivation is the best motivation.
We are living in a fast pace society that everyone wants to be on top, be a boss, be relevant etc. A wise person told me that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, and to trust the process. People want instant success but they dont want to take the proper steps in getting there.
There are different types of obstacles. Everyone doesn't have the same obstacle, but we all have went through something before throughout the course of our life.
The barrier that I had to overcome in order for me to succeed was the lack of discipline. I use to love to shop and still do. Before I put my priorities together, if I wanted to buy something I would buy it no matter if it was the right thing to do at that time. I only focused on the moment and what I wanted instead of the long term. Acting rashly caused me alot of financial pain, and setbacks. One day I woke up and I got tired of my lifestyle and I wanted to make changes. Once I start prioritizing, and disciplining myself I saved more money and I buy things at the right time.
Lack of Skill- I wanted to lead others but I didn’t have the skill set to do so. I was having issues being assertive. I wanted everyone to like me so I was passive. When I felt someone did something that I didn't like I was passive aggressive toward them.
I didm’t like confrontation and I swept alot of stuff under the rug because I didnt want to address the issue. I got tired of broken relationships due to misunderstandings that could of been resolved if I have spoken up. I learned that a good leader is assertive they handle issues up front, and they are peace makers.
Lack of desire - There were several times in my life that I Iacked desire to keep going due to family issues, job related issues and personal issues. I allowed negativity to get the best of me which drained me and put in a bad place emotionally. I build resilience by going to church, praying, speaking positive, reading scriptures from the bible, and separating myself from the negativity. ( people, gossip, etc)
I’ve shared with you my obstacles and how I overcome them. I charge each of you to embrace your obstacles by using your tools of resiliency. Drop down in the comment section and share with us some tips on how to overcome obstacles.
