Music serves many purposes, I think we all can agree to that. Music can make you happy, sad, it can make you feel motivated, inspired, and music can make you dance. I use music for different purposes . I listen to gospel and inspirational music if I want to praise God, I listen to hip-hop if I want to jam or if I'm taking a road trip. I also use music as background noise when I'm working on a project, blogging, or studying. Listening to music get my creative juices flowing. Since music is a part of our daily lives, I dedicate this post to all the music lovers. I will talk about the top ten on the music Billboard Chart for this week, and I will give you my opinion on each record. Let's get into it.
Pop Smoke- Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon . Let me start off by saying this song has a nice beat, and the lyricist was flowing. Quavo from the group Amigos was the featured rapper in this song. The lyrics didn't compliment the title. When I first read the title I thought the lyrics would be about striving, not settling for less, or something within those lines. The message I got from this track was sex, women, stunting, pulling up on each other, designer clothes, fancy cars, clothes, and houses. I'll give it a thumbs up because of the beat.
2. 21 Savage & Metro Booming - Savage Mode 2. There are some die hard 21 Savage fans. I personally don't listen to his music if it's not playing on the radio. I love hip-hop when it's the clean audio version. I like some of the messages if its empowering and not degrading. I have a three year old so I'm particular on what I'm listening to or watching around her, because I don't want her to get the wrong impression about life and go down the wrong path. I'll give this a thumbs down.
3. Juice Wrld- Legends Never Die. I was cringing as I was listening to this song it seemed dark and evil. The artist talks about how Satan tries to talk to him and that he doesn’t listen to him and that Satan is always knocking at his door. Personally I feel that he gives Satin too much power by mentioning him so much. I didn't get much inspiration on this track, I give this record a thumbs down.
4. Lil Baby- My Turn- the artist style of music and what he is putting off is dressing fresh, having luxury things, and in his songs he raps about his rise to fame, which is the typical hip hop message in this century. I give this a thumbs down.
5..Machine Gun Kelly_ Tickets to My Downfall. I've heard of Machine Gun Kelly but I've never listened to his music. This was interesting to learn about his style and genre of music. In this record he sings about how he takes risks and that he is edgy. He kept singing in his hook, “ tickets to my downfall", I don't know if this was a cry for help or if this record was just for sales. I give this a thumbs down.
6. Black Pink- The Album - This is a girl group, which I think is dope because you dom’t see much of the girl groups because alot of the artists now are single artists. I.can understand why they want to stand alone due to less confusion and he/she can have more money for themselves instead of splitting it among others. These artists gives me a Beyonce, Nicki Minaj vibe by their performance and their lyrics. The song is catchy and the video was fun to watch. This song makes a great dance and party song. I give this a thumbs up.
7. Fleetwood Mac- Rumours- When I listened to his audio “ Secondhand News" this put me in tbe mind of that 70's show. Eventhough I wasn’t born in the 70's but I love the culture, such as the flare leg pants, the plaid shirts, the wool coats, the flipped hair, I can go on and on. The song was catchy and it seemed like he was having fun recording this song. I give this a thumbs up.
8. Hamilton- An American Musical Original Broadway Cast.- I love musicals and plays. I can't wait until this pandemic clears out so I can take my daughter to plays to expose her to the arts. I think she will love them because she likes to sing, dance and dress up. This playlist is for the entire family and you can indulge into a great message. It's inspiring and I give this a thumbs up.
9. Top- YoungBoy Never Broke Again- In this record the artist starts off by saying, “ let me tell you a story” he talks about his life and his drug use and how he witness others using cocaine and other illegal drugs. As he proceeded rapping he talked about partying, and how his money grow. It's the typical hip-hop that we hear from alot of these artists. The song has a catchy beat. I give this a thumbs up.
Last on the list is Taylor Swift- Folklore. I’ve watched Taylor grew musically since she became an artist. She always upheld herself respectfully. Her music is like a breath of fresh air. There is always something positive you can take away from her records. In this song titled , “ The 1”, she talks about the good times and memories that her ex shared and she said if she was the “1” they would of been together and married. Taylor showed her sassy side on this record, this song made me want to listen to the entire album. I also give this a thumbs up.
